The People’s Republic of China and the Dominican Republic, based on the interests and aspirations of the peoples of the two countries, decided to recognize each other and establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level since the signing of the communique.
The two governments agreed to develop friendly relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence.
The Dominican Republic’s government recognizes that there is only one China in the world. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory. Accordingly, the government of the Dominican Republic will cut off its "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan. The government of the People’s Republic of China appreciates the above position of the Dominican Republic’s government.
The Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Dominican Republic agreed that they will exchange ambassadors as soon as possible in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and international practice, and provide all necessary necessary for the establishment of embassies and performance of duties in the respective capitals on the basis of reciprocity. assist.
The signing of the representatives of both parties was authorized by their respective governments. The Chinese and Spanish versions of the communique were signed in Beijing on May 1, 2018 in duplicate. Both texts are equally authentic.
